Jayden's Dev-Log 04
Me and my team had came back to talk more about the map layout and decided that the Mess Hall and the observation room become one room to save up space, we also decided to make the rooms a bit more smaller because ingame they were a bit too big.I first made the Airlock Entrance Room, Observation/MessHall, Cargo Hold, Botanics Lab, Server Room, Engine Bay, Storage Rooms, Elevator Rooms, Corridors, AirLocks and DeadEnd Doors.
I began to start working on the map so I started on the front of the ship and slowly built towards the end of the map. To begin with I first made the basic map layout in Maya with cubes to get an idea of what the 3d layout would look like, once I had done that I exported the file to Unity to use as my base reference.
I started with a basic plane mesh for the floor and I made a floor per room, once that was done I made the AirLocks between each room and made them a Prefab to use later, then I placed walls around the rooms and resized the rooms once they were all put up.
We did come across a problem where a few walls weren't turned into Prefabs so I had to go back, prefab them and then replace each wall one by one. Luckily it didn't take too long because I could copy all of the transformations of the original walls and put them on the new prefab ones, it still took up a couple days to fix.
